Currie Cup Premier Division

The 2021 Currie Cup Premier Division was the 83rd edition of the top tier of the Currie Cup, the premier domestic rugby union competition in South Africa. It was sponsored by beer brand Carling Black Label and organised by the South African Rugby Union.

The tournament returned to its usual dates, following being played from November to January in 2020/21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament also returned to its usual length of 14 rounds followed by finals, following a shortened 7 round competition in 2020/21.

The First Division of the Currie Cup also returned in 2021, having been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

A Currie Cup Premier Divízió a Dél-afrikai Köztársaság legfelső osztályú tartományi rögbilidája, amelyet 1889 óta rendeznek meg. A versenyben hét tartományi csapat szerepel: a Blue Bulls, a Boland Cavaliers, a Free State Cheetahs, a Golden Lions, a Griquas, a Sharks és a Western Province.

A versenyt 18 mérkőzéses alapszakaszban játsszák, ahol a csapatok oda-visszavágós alapon találkoznak egymással. Az alapszakasz után a legjobb négy csapat továbbjut a rájátszásba, ahol oda-visszavágós elődöntőket, majd döntőt rendeznek.

A Currie Cup Premier Divízió győztese a Currie Cup trófeát nyeri, és kijut a Vodacom Super Rugby versenybe. A versenyt a Golden Lions nyerte meg a legtöbbször, összesen 15 alkalommal.
